Chuck was born on June 14, 1941 in Omaha Nebraska, son of the late Winthrop D. and Ruth Black Voorhees. His father's job had the family move numerous times as he was growing up. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran servicing from 1959-1961. Chuck began his career in 1965 with UPS. In 1974, while living in Michigan, he was recruited by Fred Smith to join FedEx. Chuck's career with FedEx moved the family to North Carolina and then to Media, PA in 1976. Chuck held many positions throughout his time at FedEx. He retired in 1999 from FedEx as a Ramp Agent at Philadelphia International Airport.
Chuck and Nan married in 1965. They had two sons and shared a passion for classic cars, namely, MG and Austin-Healey. He rebuilt a 1954 MG TF from car parts found in dairy crates. They enjoyed participating in car shows, rallies, and antiquing. Chuck had been a Boy Scouts scout master as his boys earned their badges and became Eagle Scouts. He was an avid year round golfer, a member of MISGA, fisherman and loved to sail. Chuck was an active member of the Kentmore Park Improvement Association serving on the KPIA board and responsible for all the moorings. He was a founding member of the Sailing Club. He donated several sunfish and encouraged Kentmore Park youth to learn to sail. Chuck was generous and a jack of all trades, always willing to lend a hand, or tools.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Voorhees.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 56 years Nancy M. Syren Voorhees; two sons, Anthony S. Voorhees (Judith) of Oxford, PA and Shawn S. Voorhees (Sherry) of Media, PA; 6 grandchildren, Alexandra, Melissa, Kate, Eric, Jacob and Owen; a great granddaughter Elliana Carter and niece Christy Wentz.
