Charles Edward Shelton, 83, of Danville, Kentucky passed away quietly on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023. Charles was born on March 31, 1940 to the late Rosie Brock and Herman Shelton in Harlan County, Kentucky, the coal mining district. At an early age he joined the U.S. Army. Upon his return he married Betty and together they raised three children. He was an entrepreneur owning several businesses, one of which was an auto repair shop in downtown Danville serving the community in the best way he knew how. In his off time he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during Christmas. He enjoyed fishing, music, and was passionate about coaching little league basketball. Rebuilding cars was an extra-curricular activity that brought him great joy. Later in his life he was fascinated by Appalachia and spent a great deal of time studying the Appalachian Mountain culture. He was creative and for that he leaves behind generations of creativity for our families to continue to build from.

Five Grandchildren
Six Great Grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Arlie Shelton and one sister, Sue Phillips.
