Chuck Scott, 88, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on October 18, 2021 after battling a long illness. Chuck was born May 5, 1933 to the late Wylie Austin and Alice Humberto Brawley Scott in Sewickley, PA. He graduated from the Moon Township High School with the class of 1951. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S.S. Iowa in May 1953.
After serving his country during the Korean War, he graduated from Marietta College in 1960 where he met the love of his life, Nancy Ruhe. They were married on December 17, 1960 and shared almost 55 wonderful years together, raising four sons.
Chuck began his career at Republic Steel in Cleveland as the Assistant Foreman of the Blooming Mill. He went on to become the General Manager of the LTV Steel Cleveland Works after the merger between Republic and J&L Steel. He retired in 1994 after a successful career and took great pride in his ability to work through problems by listening to others.
Chuck was an avid golfer and played on both his high school and college golf teams. He recorded three holes-in-one, tallying the most recent one in 2016 at the impressive age of 83!He enjoyed living near Prestwick Country Club so that he was able to drive his golf cart over each day to play a round of golf with "the Group." He loved his granddaughters and one of his favorite activities was taking them on the golf cart to feed the fish and ducks on the course.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Scott; sister, Ellinore Wallace, and brother, Wylie Scott. He is survived by his sister, Martha Taylor; sons, Jeffrey, Bruce (Rachel), Kevin, Douglas (Julie) Scott; granddaughters, Emily, Katie, Abby, Ever, Lillian; grandson Christopher; and faithful four-legged companion Princess Annie.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Gables of Green, especially the nurses and caretakers with Homestead Hospice who took such great care of him during his illness and made his final days comfortable.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown, Ohio 44685 with Fr. David Durkee officiating. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the mass.
