Charles Edward Roberts, lovingly known as "Buck", passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025. Born at home in Willamar, Texas, on November 27, 1931, Buck was the son of Mildred Blackwell and Cleo Alton Roberts. He spent his early years in Willacy County and graduated from Raymondville High School in 1950.
Buck went on to earn a degree in Agronomy from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1954, along with a commission in the United States Air Force. That same year, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline Brook, on June 4th. Together, they moved to George Air Force Base in California, where Buck served as an accountant for two years. In 1956, he returned to Raymondville to pursue farming, a lifelong passion. He continued his service in the Air Force Reserves and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1969.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Blackwell, and Cleo Roberts; his stepmother, Grace Roberts; his beloved wife, Jacqueline; his brothers Alvin, Curtis, and Kenneth Roberts; his sister, Viola Kline; and his granddaughter, Shane Marie Trapp.
He is survived by his daughters, Shurlene (Don) Donaho of College Station, Texas and Kandy (Dane) Hudson of Bonney Lake, WA; his grandchildren, Kevin (Andrea) Trapp of Lyford, Texas, Kristen (Cody) Wollard of Shoreacres, Texas and Kara (Brian) Marshall of Houston, Texas and his great-granddaughter, Montanna Lyn Trapp.
Buck was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Raymondville, Texas
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Raymondville Memorial Cemetery. Military honors will be given by the American Legion, Post #390.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Aurora House Foundation, 2646 W. 18th St., Weslaco, Texas 78596. A special thank you to the hospice caregivers from LaMision Hospice, Edinburg, Texas.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, Texas.
