Charles "Rick" Adams
Did you know Charles "Rick"? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Charles (Rick) Adams was 58 years old when he went to heaven on May 11, 2022. Born in Jefferson City, Tennessee - he was the son of Charles Eric Adams and Carolyn June Adams, and older brother to Tim Adams. He is survived by his loving wife, Dora Jayne Adams, and his four children, Josh Adams, Chad Adams and his wife, Lindsey, Dylan Adams and Krista Adams- and his two grand puppies - Oliver and Brinkley. His family celebrated his life at Bridges Funeral Home in Knoxville, Tennessee last Sunday.
His first jobs were as a photographer at the Standard Banner and in the produce department at Piggly Wiggly. However, Rick was an IT Consultant for most of his life, working for companies such as Oracle, KMPG, Google, Dell, HP, Carnegie Mellon University, and the Department of Defense to name just a few. He traveled extensively throughout his life, visiting or working in nearly all fifty states and flying over two million miles.
Rick, a.k.a., "Tricky," was a lover of strong air-conditioning, a connoisseur of bad science fiction, a frequenter of farmer's markets and a lover of big bowls - especially those filled with grits. You would never hear him says no to a Coke or a dollop of Daisy, and he possessed a superhuman ability to make water sound crunchy. He loved Fritos with buttermilk - a delicacy passed along to his children - and when he laughed you thought Scooby Doo was in the room. He was a frequent traveler throughout his life and held the distinction of maintaining lifetime Ambassador status with Marriott and having once met Dean Cain. He was also the funniest man in every room he entered, so long as he was not trying to be funny.
If you knew Rick, you knew his favorite place in the world was near a beach with an ocean breeze on his face. He loved '80s hair bands and Hard Rock t-shirts. His favorite foods were steak, fries, ketchup and ketchup. Interestingly, he was a surprise NASCAR fan and had an uncanny ability to scare young children by simply clearing his throat. He also worked in Boston for several years and still could not say Massachusetts.
Most importantly, though, he was a loving father and husband. Some say the best. The most commonly spoken phrase to his children was "take care of momma". He was the kindest man you could ever meet and generous beyond reason. He was the friend you wanted, the husband you hoped to have and the dad you could look up to. We will miss him for the rest of our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Rick's memory.
