Charlie served in the Army and earned the rank of Sargent. He was a well-respected instructor whose students took to easily due to his warm personality and patience. Always believing in the importance of education, he worked numerous jobs to pursue his dream of earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT). Charlie met Mary McCloskey in 1962. They were married 54 years and raised four children. He took great pride in the fact that all four of his children graduated from college. Family and education were at the core of who he was, but he also enjoyed golfing, designing and building, playing cards, and defending his precious birdfeeders against mischievous squirrels.

A Summer memorial service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Because education and children were so important to Charlie, the family will be establishing a fund in his honor. More information will be provided once finalized.
