Mr. Charles O'Connor Mills, formerly of McDonough, GA died at age 80. He was a retired machinist at Nabisco in Atlanta, where he enjoyed a 35-year career with the company. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, outside of wartime, which took him to Italy and Turkey on the USS Pursuit, an oceanographic survey vessel. He was married to his devoted wife, Jolene, for 61 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jolene Hughes Mills of Fuquay-Varina, NC; son, Charles Gregory Mills (Amy) of Fuquay-Varina, NC and a daughter, Kimberly Mills Riemer (Gary) of Cary, NC. He is also survived by his only precious granddaughter, Ansley Walker Mills of Fuquay-Varina, NC; the apple of her Popie's eye.
A private service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020. He will be laid to rest in the Veterans' Garden of Honor at Wake Memorial Park in Cary, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation or Transitions Life Care in Raleigh, NC.
