Retired Chief Petty Officer Charles Edward Metcalf, 58, of Roswell, New Mexico passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at his home. He was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico to the late Irma Jean (Gregory) and Charles Harrison Metcalf. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1986 and was a trained gas turbine electrical engineer. During his service, he received various medals including the Kuwait Liberation Medal and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Charles retired from the US Navy in 2007 after twenty-one years of faithful service. He was of the Christian faith.
Preceding him in death other than his parents was his brother Jeffery Winston Hurley.
Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Renee' Metcalf, of Tallahassee, FL, one brother, Jack Metcalf and his wife Sharon of Carlsbad, New Mexico; two sisters, Mary White and her husband Robert of Hagerman, New Mexico and Bonnie Seely and her husband Jim, also of Hagerman, New Mexico, along with a host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Mike and Donna Dalton, of Blountstown, FL.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 2pm MST at General Douglas L. McBride Roswell Veteran Cemetery, SE Main Street, Roswell, New Mexico with full military honors. COVID-19 restrictions will be in place. Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
