Charles-Louis de Vaulx

De Vaulx - Charles-Louis Jean Marie, aged 59, passed away on April 26th, 2021, in Manhattan. Respected for his integrity, passion, and generosity, Charles was highly disciplined in all aspects of life. He dedicated himself first and foremost to his family, followed by his value investment business and passion for golf, great scotch, and fine cigars. French-descended and raised in Morocco and South Africa, Charles returned to Paris to study, earning his Master in Finance from Ecole Sup?rieure de Commerce de Rouen in 1984. He subsequently began his notable New York career. At International Value Advisers, Charles served as co-founder, chief investment officer, and portfolio manager. In 2018, he proudly became a US citizen. Known for appreciating life's beauty, Charles traveled the world, read voraciously, and enjoyed all genres of music. Both at work and home, Charles valued shared trust and loyalty. He adored Julie, his best friend and wife in a beautiful 27-year marriage filled with endless love and laughter. He was equally proud of his beloved daughters Charlotte and Beatrice. Charles will be forever remembered as an inspirational leader who radiated warmth, depth, and joy to all those closest to him. Services and memorials celebrating Charles' life will be held in New York and Paris, both to be announced at a later date.
