After a long battle with Parkinson's disease, Charles M. Lickert of Charlotte passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22 surrounded by family. He was 78.
Chuck was born February 13, 1940 in Pontiac, Mich., to Marvin and Hester Lickert. He spent his childhood in nearby Rochester before graduating from the University of Detroit in 1968 with a degree in business administration. He spent most of his career as an entrepreneur, starting small companies in coal and industrial fuels; interior lighting and design; and commercial real estate.
Chuck was an active member for more than 40 years at both Sardis Presbyterian Church and at Carmel Country Club, where he was an avid golfer.
He is predeceased by his two brothers, John and Dan. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Judy Lickert; his sisters Mary and Joanne; his sons and daughters-in-law Jamie and Caren, David and Melissa, and Bill and Cindy; and his six grandchildren Evan, Emma, Connor, Amelia, Sean, and Kellen.
A memorial service will be held at Sardis on Sunday, Jan. 27, 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas or Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Aldersgate.
