Initially Larry worked as a meat cutter at Tony's in Niles, MI, and then he opened Millers Meat Market in Niles where he specialized in hand stuffed sausages and customized orders. From his stories, he always enjoyed serving clients, Larry as a man who always strived for excellence and advancement, noticed while working in the Meat Market the refrigeration repair men were the ones making the most money, which sparked his interest in heating and cooling and refrigeration. He then decided to go to Ivy Tech and pursued his refrigeration degree. Larry decided to start his own business in 1985, Larry and Son Heating and Cooling. It was a family business. He employed and worked alongside his mother, Shirley; father, Charles; son, Nate; daughter, Hannah; son-in-law, Adam; and nephews, Eric Sorensen, and Brian Desimone. His son and son-in-law completed apprenticeships under him, and many other men he taught at Ivy Tech were able to start their own businesses from Larry's teachings and experiences. Above all his accomplishments, Larry was a man of his family! He loved his wife, Susan, and cherished everything about their relationship. He loved his children! He couldn't get enough of expressing how proud he was of them and how he loved being "Their Father." He couldn't get enough of all his granddaughters; they each shared a special bond with him. He never missed a second with any of them. Larry loved camping! Up North, he enjoyed the Lakes of Pure Michigan, and was proud to take his family along to experience special places. He always loved light houses, and unique cigars. He enjoyed winning Championships at Beacon Bowl with several family members on his team. Larry loved the song, "Don't Worry Be Happy." He was full of laughter, jokes, and all around charm. He will truly be missed by everyone in his life.
