Charles Ambrose Kleier, born September 1, 1937 died on Monday March 29, 2021 from complications of diabetes and kidney disease. He was 83. A native of Lexington, KY he graduated from Lexington Catholic High School in 1955. He attended the University of Kentucky and then served in the United States Army from 1959-1964. Charles was a salesman's salesman working for National Cash Register - earning entrance into National Cash Register's prestigious "52 club" annually. He did what few these days do - stayed with the same company for over 40 years. His true passion was life on the Ohio river. He founded C.K. Marina in Ludlow, KY. affectionately known as Cheap Charlies Yacht Club. He loved his boats and his river friends and enjoyed hosting parties in the summer. He was the proud captain of his yacht, Sunshine III and enjoyed all water activities from Florida to Hawaii. He was mechanically inclined and prided himself on his ability to fix anything and everything. He was always willing to help a neighbor as only river rats know how. He is preceded in death by his parents, Martha Oakley and Clarence Robert Kleier, brother - Edwin Henry (Gay) Kleier. He is outlived by his older brother Clarence Robert (Charlotte) Kleier, Jr. and 2 nieces Susan (Steve) Jennings, and Page (Dale) Thomas, great niece and nephews, Samantha (Hunter) Norris, Whit Jennings, and Josh Thomas "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming, "Wow, What a ride!""- H. Thompson. We believe Charlie gave it his best shot! Services will be private. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences at knoxbrothersfuneralhome.com
