The family of Charles "Charlie" Katz sadly announces his passing on Friday, October 11, 2019. A longtime resident of Longmeadow MA, he passed away after a long fight against many illnesses. He was born on May 10, 1932 to Harry and Ada Katz in Springfield MA. He grew up in Springfield, attended local public school until going to the former Bordentown NJ Military Academy for High School. He graduated from AIC with a business degree. He went to work the family business State Line Potato Chips. He remained there until branching out with his partner Bob LaBrie in Country Corn Snack Products. Finally Charlie was lured into sales at Zep Manufacturing where he spent 31 years. He was the ultimate salesman. He loved selling! Charlie was active for many years in Boy Scouts. He was also a Master Mason of the A.F.& A.F. Masons and the Esoteroric-Sherwood Lodge in Springfield. Charlie lost the "love of his life" Barbara Stein Katz in 2013. He leaves behind a daughter Helen, a son Robert (Patricia), 3 nieces Debbie Stein, Jamie Stein-Muzio (Carl) and Ricki Stein-Bernhard (Randy), 3 great nephews Marco Muzio, Alex & Max Bernhard, special friends Fran Grant, Suzy Bertrand and Anne Veino. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 16, 2019 at 11:00 am from Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral on Sumner Ave in Springfield MA. Burial will follow in Kodimoh Cemetery in West Springfield. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to charity of one's choice.
