Charles Doyle Hoge, a resident of Brookdale Assisted Living in Houston, Texas passed away on February 2, 2022.
Doyle was born on August 6, 1928 in Weslaco, Texas to William Delbert and Sadie Puddister Hoge.
He graduated from Weslaco High School and attended Edinburg Junior College for two years. He married Billie Ruth Parker on January 26, 1951 in Weslaco, Texas. Doyle served in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1952. He trained new recruits in marksmanship and often spent his off time on the rifle range to ensure the recruits were proficient, as most of them were shipped off to the Korean war. He is a Marine through and through. Doyle had a successful thirty year career in the motor freight business where he managed terminals throughout Texas. His hobbies included hunting, marksmanship and flying ( in his younger years ). He earned his pilot's license at sixteen before he had his driver's license. Doyle enjoyed teaching young people how to safely and proficiently operate firearms. He conducted those classes free of charge and received numerous accolades. He served as a deacon in several churches and additionally as a deacon emeritus at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville, Texas. Doyle cherished his family, friends and church. He will be remembered as a hard working "people person" who was always ready and willing to help family and friends.
Doyle was preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen Dean Hoge; his parents, Sadie and Delbert Hoge; and sister, Phyllis Anderson.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 71 years, Billie Ruth Hoge; sister, Billie Mae McKinney Ragin; a son, Phillip Hoge ( Charlotte ); granddaughter, Michelle Hoge Cook ( Chad ); grandson, Charles Doyle Hoge II ( Melanie ); great grandson, Taylor Matthew Cook; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews ( all of which were his favorites ).
Graveside services will be conducted by Davis Funeral Home, Henrietta, Texas at a later date.
