Charles E. "Ted" Herget, Jr. passed away on March 2, 2023, at the age of 83.
He was born on May 29, 1939, to Kathleen Freeney Herget and Charles E. Herget Sr.
Ted grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Loyola University in Baltimore. He completed courses in taxation, retirement planning, employee benefits, and investments at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Baltimore. He also attended The Endowment Institute at Harvard Business School and received an Honorary Doctorate in Philanthropy from Stevenson University.
He was married to Sheila McDonough also, a Baltimore native and the love of his life. Together, they lived in Vero Beach, Florida, and enjoyed the summers in Fenwick Island, Delaware.
Thirty-two years ago, Ted founded Asset Strategy Consultants. He was a successful businessman and philanthropist who loved to make everyone he knew smile and laugh. Ted founded The Herget Foundation in 1991, which has provided hundreds of scholarships and donations to hospitals, universities, and needs-based organizations. In addition, Ted personally served on numerous Education and Finance related boards, both statewide and nationally.
He was known for his kind heart, memorable magic tricks, and his deep love for his family and friends. He filled each day with love and joy, making the most of every moment. He was loved and will be remembered for his many achievements, which impacted so many people.
Ted Herget is survived by his wife, Sheila Herget, daughters Kelly Herget, Stacey Taylor, and Melissa Niquette, and his grandchildren, Caroline Santos, Hilary Curran, Christopher Niquette, Matthew Niquette, and Shannon Spilman.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations should go to the Herget Foundation (made payable to the Herget Foundation) and sent to 54 Cherrywood Court, Hunt Valley, MD 21030.
