Charles D. "Charlie" Harrison, 85, joined the love of his life on Saturday November 6, 2021. He was born 02/11/1936 in Edgewood, IN at home to Noel and Dorothy (Seigle) Harrison. He married Evelyn (Hinkle) Harrison on 9/2/1955. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage. When Charlie was 12 years old, he started working at a southside dairy sweeping floors, then bottle washing and then moving on to other tasks making $5.00 a day until his senior year. Charlie graduated from Greenwood High School. He played basketball and baseball.
After graduation he started working at U.S. Envelope Company/Westvaco retiring March 3, 1998 after 44 years. Charlie was a big kid at heart. He was a little league baseball coach. He loved playing with trains, collected over 1,000 Wheaties boxes, kept his kids toys and games plus a mountain of other collectibles. He loved fishing and camping with his family. He was also quite the artist on the scroll saw. He loved sitting at his barn every Sunday and waving to everyone going to and leaving the Rocklane Christian Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends.
Survivors include his son, Larry D. (Lisa) Harrison; daughter, Leora (Bob) Strack; three grandsons Adam (Jamie) Harrison; Greg (Jennifer) Harrison; Jason (Jessica) Walters; four great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Joan Harrison and daughter-in-law Becky Harrison.
In-laws by marriage: Steve Hinkle, Brad and Kathie Skeel, Mary Toler, Chuck and Johanna Skeel and Alice Higginbotham.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn (Hinkle) Harrison; son, Brian D Harrison; twin daughters, Deanna L and Dianna J Harrison and brother Reginald Harrison.
We greatly appreciate and want to thank all the people who cared for our dad at Homeview Health, Johnson Memorial, Hickory Creek Healthcare, Community South, Franciscan Hospice Care and Access Johnson County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Charlie Harrison's memory to Access Johnson County, 3500 N Morton St., Franklin, IN 46131. They were his means of transportation the last couple of years.
Funeral services are Saturday, November 13 at 12:00 noon at Rocklane Christian Church, 4430 Rocklane Rd., Greenwood, IN. 46143. Visitation is from 11:00 AM until time of service. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel.
