Jeff Goodell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died peacefully on December 30, 2024, at Prestonwood Nursing Center. He was a resident of Carrollton, Texas.
Charles Jefferson Goodell was born on March 29, 1939, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Arville and Eva Belle Goodell.
The Goodell family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Jeff attended College High School, where he was a state champion swimmer, which led to a swimming scholarship at the University of Missouri at Rolla. His outstanding performance resulted in the offer of another scholarship to the University of Kansas, where he majored in Architectural Engineering and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.
Jeff was the first in his family to graduate college. He rose through the ranks at Phillips Petroleum Company, starting in the engineering department in Omaha, Nebraska, and then at various management roles in Indiana, Alaska, Midland, and Houston, Texas, and several stints in Bartlesville. He then used the acumen learned in the oil and gas industry as a vice president of Hadson Company in Dallas. He finished his career as a vice president at Stone Panels Inc.
In retirement, Jeff was involved in his community at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, president of Springhill Retreat Center, and a member of the men's breakfast. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis at Brookhaven Country Club. He was an avid reader and traveler.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane Klockman Goodell, and their three children: Mindy O'Connell, Steve Goodell (Heather), and Scott Goodell (Cynthia). He was an involved grandfather to his four grandchildren: Anna Goodell Schwieger (Josh), Matthew Goodell, Sam O'Connell, and Charlotte O'Connell. He was blessed to have two great-grandchildren: Abigail Schwieger and Luke Schwieger. Also surviving is a brother, Jon Goodell.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 10, in the sanctuary of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road, Dallas.
