Charles Henry Gleason, known as C.H. to family and friends, passed peacefully in his home in Knoxville, Tennessee on Aug. 12.
C.H. lived a happy and prosperous life beginning in rural Pennsylvania growing up on the family farm in Elliottsville milking cattle, raising crops, chickens and swine.
More than 62 years ago, he met and married the love of his life, Eleanor Ann Gleason, in Wharton Township. At age 19, C.H. attended DeVry University to study electrical engineering and upon graduation, worked as an electrical engineer for Indiana Bell, retiring in 2000.
C.H. loved many things, especially the railroad and model trains. He aided the Muncie and Western Model Railroad Club, in building and promoting model trains at shows around Muncie, Indiana including support to the Muncie Children's Museum where children still enjoy trains today.
He was a member of the Daleville Masonic Temple and Daleville Christian Church. He served as a Mason, an Elder, Chairman of the Council, Leader of the remodeling committee, and choir member at the church.
C.H.'s love for the outdoors led the family to participate in the local 4-H Club showing horses and pigs. He was instrumental in developing a pavilion to further 4-H participation and for the Daleville community to enjoy.
C.H. enjoyed placing Christmas lights throughout his 15-acre farm sharing holiday joy with the local community and was often featured in the Muncie Star Press.
His passion for lake life was shared with his wife, Eleanor, of 62 years upon retirement they moved from Daleville, Indiana, to reside on Norris Lake in LaFollette, Tennessee, the past 20 years before his passing.
C.H. was a man who loved Christ his savior and is survived by his wife Eleanor Gleason and many family and friends.
