Charles Douglas Cooley, age 82, passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a New Year's baby born on January 1, 1942 at Frederick Memorial Hospital to the late Nellie McDonough and Harold Cooley.
He graduated from Poolesville High School in the class of 1960. His classmates were always a close knit group of friends. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Ward. They were a team who shared many blessings and adventures throughout their 62 year marriage. They lived in Barnesville their entire life.
Jack worked for Consumer Affairs at Montgomery County Government until his retirement. He was the owner and operator of Cooley's Trash Service for 40 years. He also worked for Harland Shoemaker & Sons during this time.
He was known to many as Jackie Boy, Weave, Charlie and Nak.
In his younger years he loved the trumpet and played for years in the Poolesville Community Band. Jack was a faithful volunteer and life member at Montgomery County Agricultural Center. His greatest pleasure was spending time at their Delaware home with his family. He was a man of many talents.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa (Luke) Fedders. Grandchildren - Megan Kathryn (Jack) McAleer, Zachary Michael Fedders, Douglas Ward Cooley Jr, and Jacob Carson Cooley. Great Grandchildren - Ava Louise Cooley and Tate Douglas McAleer.
Preceded in death by his son Douglas Ward Cooley.
He was a lifelong member of Barnesville Baptist Church where he served on many committees.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, August 8th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, MD. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 9th at the Barnesville Baptist Church, 17917 Barnesville Rd, Barnesville, MD 20838. Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 515 S Market St, Frederick, MD 21701.
