Charles Robert "Chuck" Donau, 78, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Charles was born October 18, 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Charles Harold Donau and Grace Parente Donau. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Donau Kaufmann.
Chuck was a Retired Chief Warrant Officer 3 Special Forces in the U.S. Army. He loved his country and his family.
He graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a Physician's Assistant Degree. He also graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor in Health Sciences.
Charles was the first Physician's Assistant in the Emergency Room at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and the sixteenth Physician's Assistant licensed in North Carolina.
He was the Founder and Owner of First Med Urgent Care & Family Medicine. Charles also was the Founder & Owner of Rapid Care.
Chuck was employed as a Physician's Assistant with Commwell Health Care in Tar Heel, NC.
A Committal Service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Bragg, NC with full military honors. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-8:00 pm.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Sara Register Donau; sons, Douglas Alan Williams and wife Jennifer, Allen James Bass, III and wife Helen; daughters, Dana Donau Smith and husband Gerald, Ellen Renee Donau and husband Nathan Roberts, Ashley Bass Foster and husband Andrew; brother, Edward Donau and wife Ulrike; sister, Madeline Donau Hofer and husband Ernest; brother-in-law, Karl Kaufmann, grandchildren, Jonathan, Riley, Maggie, Carter, Michael Dale, Andrew, Alyssa, Cooper, Hudson, Daisy, Caroline, and Ainsley and a great-granddaughter, Charlie Grace Gardner; nieces, Olivia, Tammy; nephew, Ernie, Chris; great-nieces, Kelsey, Amanda; great-nephews, Micah, Christopher.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, 3927 Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville, NC 28303.
