It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Richard 'Dick' Crooks on December 23, 2021. He was a graduate of the University of South Florida. He taught in both Pinellas County, Florida and his current home, Madison, Georgia, at Morgan County High School, as both an English teacher and a tennis coach. Dick married the love of his life, Kiki Pollard in 1985.
They discovered the joys of RVing and traveled the country meeting new friends, visiting family, and collecting a myriad of stories. When they weren't on the road, Dick spent his time substitute teaching or volunteering with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter.
Dick was a consummate storyteller. We will miss sitting and listening to him tell tales of the rope monster or how his niece and her son were tempted to stop and buy 'peches' along the side of a Georgia road or watching him subtly trick his wife into cooking a meal, he promised to make, without her realizing it. We will remember with laughter his leaving the house mantra and that he was a man truly ahead of his time, inventing a touch-free handshake years before Covid was even a thought.
He is survived by his wife of nearly thirty-seven years, Kiki Pollard, his beloved dog Cooper, and an extended family that loved him dearly.
