Charles Anthony ("Kayo") Cindric, 96, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Mary (Munak) Cindric. Charles was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Frank and Mary Cindric as the youngest of nine children, and served with distinction in the U.S. Army in Europe during WWII, for which he was awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded in action. He returned to Kansas City after the war and married Margaret in 1948, working at General Motors Corporation for 43 years until his retirement. He was active in politics and community affairs in a variety of roles, including as a Board member of the Croatian Catholic Union and a lector at St. Patrick's Catholic Church for many years. In 1996, Charles and Marge moved to Vero Beach, Florida to begin a new life in retirement. Charles took up golf again and played regularly with a group of friends who enjoyed their weekly outings on the links. He was an active and faithful member of the St. John of the Cross Catholic Community in Vero Beach, singing in the choir and developing many strong friendships with other parishioners as well as with members of the clergy. He was well known for delivering samples of his cooking skills to his neighbors and friends. Charles is survived by four children: Constance (William) Novak, of Vero Beach; Cynthia (Michael Connor) Cindric, of Woodbridge, VA; Charles (Margaret) Cindric, of Denver, CO; and Candace Cindric, also of Vero Beach. He is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at a later date at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
