Born in Hartford Connecticut on March 17, 1930 to Charles Nathan Johnston and Elsie Marks Johnston. Both parents have preceded Chuck in death as has his younger sister Mary Ellen Johnston Gray. Chuck died January 22, 2021, at home, from complications following hip surgery. Chuck graduated from Bryant College in Rhode Island with a Business degree, he served in the U S Army from 1951 to 1953, with 13 months in Korea. During his basic training in Indiana, he spent week end leaves in Toledo Ohio, where he met Donna Crocker. They were married when he came home from Korea in June of 1953. Surviving Chuck are his wife Donna, son "Chip" Charles Edward Johnston, his wife Jacque Bankston Johnston, precious granddaughters Allison (husband Matt Frizzo) and Sarah, all of Dallas, Texas, and much-loved nephew Douglas Crocker of Perrysburg, Ohio. Chuck retired from teaching in Sylvania High School and moved to Traverse City Michigan to live on Lake Leelanau. He and his wife Donna were also owners of Americana Gallery opening in Sylvania in 1972, and moving to Leland Michigan when they both retired from education. A Memorial service is yet to be arranged.
