Charles A. Anderson, 71, of Lake Norden, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Avantara nursing home in Lake Norden. Due to Covid-19 concerns, private family services will be held. Graveside services will be held at Danish Lutheran Cemetery. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charles Amel Anderson was born on October 26, 1948, in the Brookings Hospital to C. Earling and Rosella Anderson of Lake Norden, SD. He attended elementary school the 2nd grade in District 17 Country School in rural Lake Norden. Charles then attended grade school through high school in lake Norden, graduating in 1967. After high school, Charles continued farming with his dad until they retired and sold the farm in 1983. Upon retiring, Charles moved to Lake Norden.
In 2017, he moved into the Lakeview Apartments in Lake Norden. In May of 2019, Charles moved to the Bryant Assisted Living. Charles entered the Avantara Nursing Home in Lake Norden in December of 2019.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything to do with farming. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Going out to eat and having coffee at the C-Store were always a highlight of his day.
Charles was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Lake Norden. He was a lifelong member of the church and served on various church boards over the years.
He is survived by his sisters, Ione Thomsen of Klamath Falls, OR and Charlotte Nielsen of Lake Norden, SD; 9 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews and their spouses as well as new babies soon joining the family. Charles is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, and many close lifelong friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Earling and Rosella Anderson; grandparents, Emil and Metha Anderson, Amel and Alma Sundal; sister, Marlene Spronk Herzig; brothers-in-law, Bruce Thomsen, Gary Koistinen, Craig Nielsen, Verlon Spronk and Rich Herzig and one great niece, Sara Davis and his aunts and uncles.
