Charles L. Alford, 89, of Greeley, died Jan. 7, 2010. He was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Ault, Colo., to Charles A. and Ollie (Larah) Alford. He attended grade school in Eaton and graduated from Ault High School.
He married Wilma Johnson on Nov. 18, 1938, in Greeley, and she died on Sept. 16, 1987. He then married Willa Johnson on Sept. 14, 2009, in Greeley, and she died on Sept. 26, 2009.
Charles lived in Greeley since 1965 and worked as an HVAC mechanic for the University of Northern Colorado for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a past member of Moose Lodge No. 909 and enjoyed fishing and bowling when he was able to do so.
Survivors include his sons Garry (Connie) Alford of Greeley, Terry (Diane) Alford of North Las Vegas, Nev., daughter Kathy Arnold of Greeley, stepson Larry (Pat) Anderson of Alabama, stepson-in-law Bill (Carol) Hayden of Greeley, stepdaughter Donna (Tom) Upton of Greeley, 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both spouses, grandson Eric Alford, granddaughter Laura Brown, brother John Alford, great-granddaughter Kelsi Colton and stepdaughter Susan Hayden.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
