Charles A. Freestone, 82, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in his home. He was born on November 27, 1938 in Culver, Indiana to the late Phillip A. and Ruby B. (Rodgers) Freestone. On May 20, 1962 he married Betty C. Christoph who survives. He was preceded in death by one son Christopher, and one sister Judith Puckett. Charles is survived by two daughters, Carolene (Frank) Walker of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Cassandra (Michael) Koselke of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Owsianowski, nine grandchildren; Heather (Greg) Martis, Holly (Mark) Richwalski, Kevin Leinbach, Ellyn Koselke, Jared Koselke, Jacob (Abby) Koselke, Katelyn Freestone, Bradley Freestone, and Nicholas Walker, seven great grandchildren; Sydney, Tyler, Arleigh, Michael, Oliver, Avery and Aspen, one sister, Janet (Dan) Caesar of Mishawaka, Indiana, three brothers, Larry (Cinda) Freestone of Swanton, Ohio, Richard (Darla) Freestone of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Terry (Patrice) Freestone of Union Mills, Indiana, one brother-in-law, Duane Christoph, and several nieces and nephews. Charles and Betty had lived in both the West and East coast before coming back to Indiana. They spent several winters at Tropic Star R.V Resort in Pharr, Texas and then Pinnacle Port, Panama City Beach, Florida. He was a United States Vietnam Navy Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 297, New Carlisle, Historic New Carlisle, and the New Carlisle United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the New Carlisle Lions Club and Star Righters Square Dance Club. Charles was an avid Notre Dame fan, enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren play sports, camping and traveling. A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 26, 2021 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm EST in the New Carlisle United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm in the church with Pastor Kal Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
