Catherine Charlene Rhodes, 87, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at Southern Magnolia Estates, Golden, MS. She was born in Marietta, MS to Henry and Emma cox. She retired from Blue Bell Manufacturing after working there for 41 years. She was a member of Golden Central Baptist Church for 62 years.
Charlene was an awesome basketball player when she was in high school and she never lost her love for the game. She enjoyed watching all of the women's basketball games on television. She also loved going on bus tours with her friends until her health started to decline. Charlene loved people. She was a selfless person who was always looking for someone to help. She will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 3, 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Mickey Trammel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, 12-1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Dennis, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Rhodes; her parents and her siblings, Audrey Sewell, Victoria Franks, Herman Cox, Jessie Cox, Troy Cox, James W. "Pird" Cox, Charlie Cox and James Vester Cox. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Pallbearers will be Harold Wilson, Robert Sewell, Richard Cox, Tommy Cox, Wade Cox, Byron Cox and Jimmy Franks. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Griffin, Jason Garner, Ryan Sewell and Jerry Fancher.
