Peacefully and surrounded by her loving family, Charalene "Char" Turner, passed away on February 13, 2023, a week after her 90th birthday.
Char was born and raised in Anacortes, WA in 1933 to Ida and Earl Holmes. Char married the love of her life, John "Jack" Turner, in 1950 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2010. She was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. Char was always on the go. Along with raising her nine children, she was a licensed foster parent, restaurant manager, operated her own catering business and was Grandma Char to many. She was a woman with numerous talents.
Helping and mentoring youth was her true joy in life. She was small in stature, but her influence was larger than life. Char taught us how to love and to remain loyal to those we love. Sharing experiences is what she held dear to her heart including family parties, camping, motorhome road trips, kids' sporting events and Hawaiian vacations. In spirit of her love for Hawaii, Ohana (family) means everything.
Char is survived by her nine children Cheri (Hoagy) Kerr, Shelly (John) Angus, Lori (Rick) Eberle, Deanna (Rob) Babington, Teresa (Steve) Chaney, Jack (Grace) Turner, Jana (Corey) Darling, Jill (Jeff) Harris and Ann (Dan) Little. 23 grandchildren, numerous great-children and many others who considered her grandma. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Turner and brother William "Bill" Holmes.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for early Spring, date to be determined. Char will be dearly missed and will forever remain in our hearts.
