Chalmer Howard (C.H.) Keeton, 92, of Hale Center, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, in Plainview, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, in Hale Center, with Rev. Taylor Smith and Rev. Terry Wright, officiating. Interment with Masonic rites will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
C.H. was born in Mobeetie, Texas, to Chalmer Howard and Bessie (Corcoran) Keeton, on June 29, 1930, and graduated high school in Lefors, Texas. After graduating from high school, C.H. went on to play college football at West Texas State University, in Canyon, Texas. Upon graduating college, C.H. began a high school football coaching career that included positions in Lefors, Sundown, and Hale Center. C.H. ended his coaching career in 1969 and eventually owned Main Insurance Agency in Hale Center until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hale Center and the Lemond Masonic Lodge #832 in Hale Center.
C.H. was preceded in death by his parents, Chalmer and Bessie, of Pampa, Texas, his wife of over 40 years, Barbara Lynne Keeton, in 2022, and a sister, Mattie "Louise" Ogden of Perryton, in 2022.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Keeton of Lubbock and Rodney Keeton and his wife Shaunna of Lubbock. He was blessed with seven grandchildren: Andrea, Stephanie, Taylor, Harli, Hayden, Sabra, and Sky and four great-grandchildren.
