Cesar Brzezinek, 86, husband of 53 years to Janina Brzezinek; father to Sylvia Myer and Renata Pera; father-in-law to Dr. Edward Myer and Ken Pera; grandfather to Saul Pera, Andrew Myer, and Matthew Myer; brother to Edward Brzezinek and Wladyslawa Rurarz; died on February 13, 2022. Cesar was a Polish citizen and US resident, born in Lierville, France on October 22, 1935. A memory he often shared of his youth was that he remembers the various troops from different countries coming through France during World War II, and he liked the Americans, who gave out packages with various goods at the end of the war. In 1947 he moved back to Poland with his family, where he finished school. He and his family worked in a greenhouse, where his love of gardening was cultivated. As a young adult he also worked in factories in Poland, until he returned to France in 1965 for a few months. Without knowing anyone in the country, and being able to speak little to no English, and having only $28 in his pocket he set off to America and landed in New York on April 28, 1965. He heard of a Polish community in New Britain so he took a train that dropped him off at Berlin Station. He soon found a job at Turbine Engine Components Textron and worked there as a machinist until his retirement in 1997. Cesar took great pride in how he cared for his home and property in Kensington, where he resided since 1977. He was also an excellent gardener, often giving away his many extra vegetables to his daughters and their families. He was a fan of tennis and soccer and would always look forward to watching the World Cup. What he took the most pride in was the family he helped to create in the United States. He loved his family very much, and was extremely proud of his grandchildren, all boys and all of whom will deliver his ashes to their final resting place. Cesar was predeceased by his father Jan Brzezinek; his mother, Maria Piekacz; his brother Bernard Brzezinek and his wife Emilia; brother-in law Jozef Rurarz; and his sister-in-law Stenia Brzezinek. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 19th directly at Holy Cross Church, 31 Biruta St., New Britain. He will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery following the mass. Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain.
