Cecil Edward "Ed" Tatum, 64, of Woodbridge, Va. passed away on November 25, 2020 as the result of renal failure.
Ed was born April 3, 1956 at Fort Belvoir, Va. He was a 1974 graduate of Gar-field High School in Woodbridge, Va. Ed served as a member of the U. S. Navy for 15 years. After discharge he was employed by the Dept of Defense Education Activity, MCB Quantico, Va., where he retired in 2003.
Ed was an active member of the VFW Post 1503 in Woodbridge, Va. and served as a member of the Honor Guard. He was a Civil War reenactor with Company "D" 27th Virginia Infantry, Stonewall Brigade. Ed was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Ed is survived by his mother, LaDonna Lurlene Winters Tatum of Woodbridge, Va., sister Mary Tatum Coleman, (Ralph) of Woodford, Va., Uncle Charlie Winters of Vero Beach, Fl., and Charlie's children Matthew Winters and LaDonna Winters Jackson. A niece Ashley Sexton Giannetti (Christopher), and nephews Chris Sexton (Marie) and Timothy Sexton (Taryn). He will also be missed by his dog and best friend "Tude".
Ed is preceded in death by his father Cecil Frederick Tatum and nephew and name sake Steven Edward Sexton.
A public visitation will be held on Friday Dec. 11, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:45 am at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, Va. and a funeral service at 12:00 pm with a local minister from the Southbridge Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating.
