Cecil Lee Nix, age 90 (February 16, 1932), passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2022, in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center - Gainesville. Cecil was born in south Georgia to parents the late Verna Shiver and Lee Anderson Nix. He lived most of his life in Dublin, Georgia, where he played football at Dublin High School and made the Georgia All-Star football team. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. After his service, he settled in Dublin where he married the late Doris Rish Nix, raised three children - the late Kenneth Lee Nix (Monica Moore Nix), Cecil Wayne Nix (Nancy Elton Nix) and Sandra Kay Nix - and proudly practiced his welding skills with Graham Brothers Construction Company before his retirement. Most recently he was a resident of Blairsville, Georgia, where he and his late wife Doris shared a home with daughter Sandra. In Blairsville he continued his love for all things outdoors including doing yard work, fishing, and enjoying the neighborhood on his golf cart. He was also a diehard fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs and proudly celebrated their recent World Series and National Championship wins. Also while in Blairsville, Cecil shared his love for life, sense of humor, and positive outlook with his extended family Suzanne and John Cone and Cathy and the late Bucky Daniel. Cecil enjoyed sharing his love for fishing, four-wheeling, and story-telling with his grandchildren Cecilia Nix, Kayla Nix, and twins Tara and Taylor Nix. Additionally, Cecil is survived by his sister Mary Barbee (Rufus) of Dublin, great grandchildren Emilia and Luna, and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation in Mr. Nix's memory. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. You may sign the family guest book and send condolences online at www.mountainviewfuneralhome.com.
