Cathy Gipe , 66 Aug 29, 1955 - Oct 3, 2021 Cathy Jean Gipe, 66 years old, of New Oxford, PA, passed away Sunday October 3, 2021 in her home.
Born August 29, 1955, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Sr. and Joyce Thomas Rankin.
Cathy retired after 46 years as a phlebotomist for Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown. She was also a former phlebotomy instructor at Hagerstown Community College. She was a member of the West End Baptist Chapel. Cathy loved the outdoors and nature. Her hobbies were all nature oriented, gardening, camping, fishing, time at the beach and boating. She was a wonderful cook and loved her cats. Cathy also loved all music, except for country. Cathy was a great and loving person and grandmother, enjoying a lot of time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Allan Gipe Jr and spouse Tanja of Minnesota and Pebbles Renee Gipe and significant other Walker Chapman of Westminter, MD and her grandchildren, Reagyn, Rylynn, Ryker and LilliJo. She is also survived by her companion Jack Himes of New Oxford, PA. her step mother Wilma Costlow of Waynesboro, PA and her siblings, Bill Thomas and wife Karen of Hagerstown, MD, Larry Thomas and wife Linda of Hagerstown, MD, Brian Toms and Roger of Fairplay, MD, April Small and Cody of Waynesboro, PA, Tim Thomas and Maria of Texas and Kathleen Langlinais of Texas. Also surviving Cathy are numerous nieces and nephews.
Cathy is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Judy Thomas.
Funeral arrangements are held by the Potomac Valley Cremation Center, 305 N Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD. Family and friends can be received at a Memorial Service on Friday October 8, 2021 at the funeral home from 6pm-8pm. Pastor Shane Wilt will officiate.
