Catherine (Kay) Horgan Williams
(Feb. 6, 1926 - Nov. 16, 2020)
Stuart, Florida - Catherine (Horgan) Williams, 94, passed away peacefully, on Monday, November 16, 2020, at home in Stuart, Florida. Kay, as she was known to her friends, was born in 1926 to immigrant parents, in Malden, Massachuttes. She married the love of her life, in 1949, and later settled in Harvard, Massachuttes to raise her family. After a lifetime of enduring harsh winters up north, she picked up stakes and moved to Stuart, Florida where she pursued her passion for painting.
Kay was a remarkable woman who was truly a force of nature! She was a devoted mother to six children, who doted on them well into their adulthood and proudly celebrated each one of their accomplishments. In addition to her cherished role as a mother, Kay also had a long and successful career as a Relocation Manager at Digital Equipment Corporation. She was recognized for her significant achievements for the company and helped countless company families find their dream homes in which to raise their families. Her amazing artistic talent was discovered late in life and encouraged by all who knew her. Kay had a natural ability to transform a blank canvas into whatever her mind could imagine. She was even a featured artist at a special event, on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, where she displayed her extensive collection of original works. During her lifetime, Kay enjoyed traveling the world, being involved in local politics, and passionately supporting numerous causes close to her heart. She was a wonderful woman and dear friend to many; she has left an indelible mark on all who were lucky enough to have known her. Kay will be remembered as a fiercely independent lady, who cared deeply about her family and always embraced new challenges.
Kay is survived by her five children; Catherine Williams Heretick (Dennis) of Stuart, FL; Ann Williams (Dave Morosas) of Kittery Point, Maine; David Williams of Street, MD; Christine Williams of Acworth, GA; and Walter Williams (Carol) of Rixeyville, VA; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Catherine was predeceased by Robert F. Williams, her husband, and Robert Williams, her son.
Kay will be laid to rest in a private family service at the Bellevue Cemetery, in Harvard, Massachuttes. Her family will hold a celebration of life memorial service for her at a future date. Her family has requested that In lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Kay's memory to VITAS Hospice, at Vitas.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Martin Funeral Home Stuart, FL.
