Mrs. Catherine Irene Ritterskamp, Washington, passed away on the late morning of Thursday, April 15, 2021. She was 92. Katie was born March 20, 1929 in Pike County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lowell and Golda (Ferguson) Swain.
Katie attended Petersburg High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1947. She had worked in the office of Dr. Tom Davis in Washington as a laboratory technician for 15 years.. She was a member of Bethany Christian Church where she volunteered assisting with the church bulletins. Having a servant's heart, she also volunteered with the Washington chapter of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP). She was a life member of the Beta Sigma Pi sorority and had also served on the Board of the Daviess County Mental Health Association. Always one to stay busy, she spent much of her leisure time reading and doing crossword puzzles. In her younger years she also enjoyed camping. Katie also enjoyed, along with her husband, entertaining family and friends as well as hosting dinner parties for her husband's business associates.
Katie is survived by her daughter, Jan (Dr. Rodney) Kalb; her step-children, Laurie (Terry) Braun and James R. Ritterskamp II; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, James R. Ritterskamp; her son, Danny Lowell Woodall; her brother, Ermal Swain and a sister-in-law, Pegge Ritterskamp.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Gill Funeral Service, Washington. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the Bethany Christian Church or R.S.V.P. both in Washington.
