Catherine "Kit" Groves Musnicki, born September 13, 1921, passed away August 31, 2021 just days short of 100 years in Oldsmar, FL. Kit was born in Townsville, Australia to James and Martha O'Brien Groves. She is survived by two daughters Veronica "Ronnie" Evans of Trinity, FL and Ann Chiaramonte (Joseph) of Sherman, CT, 6 grandchildren, Kathi Lee (Tom) of Kent, CT, Jodi Pelletier of Odessa, FL, Brian Bardelli (Geri) of Cheshire, CT, TR Smith of Loveland, CO, Courtney Smith of Sherman, CT and Kelly Nash of Grayslake, IL. She also leaves 9 Great-grandchildren, Andrew Bardelli, Benjamin and Megan Pelletier, Claire, Ava and Wyatt Lee, Samantha and Lila Bardelli, Brooks Nash and one great-great-grandson, Jay Bardelli.
Kit was predeceased by her husband Peter Musnicki in April 1970, Danbury CT, her daughter Linda Nash, Odessa, FL, her parents, her 4 brothers and 1 sister and her beloved grandson Adam Nash.
Kit was born and raised in Townsville, North Queensland, Australia. It was during World War II that while volunteering for The American Red Cross, Kit met and married the love of her life American Staff Sgt. Peter Musnicki who was transferred not long after the marriage while Kit remained in Australia and gave birth to the first of three daughters. Upon the end of the war, Pete arranged for Kit and baby daughter Veronica to travel to America. Once arriving, the family settled in Danbury, Ct where they would raise their three daughters and become integral members of the local community. Kit would help Pete run the family business Martha's Luncheonette on Main Street for many years and then continued to greet the locals when with the changing times they switched over to Four Seasons Sporting Goods. Kit continued to work at the family business even after Pete's passing. Once the business was sold she continued working in local retail both at Howlands department store and a local maternity shop.
Kit's life was filled with love and fun. There was always laughter and she was always "put together" to perfection. She enjoyed junkets to Vegas, trips to Atlantic City, but most of all she enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Services will be private in CT at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated. As anyone who knew her as she leaves this world knows, she is reminding us "Remember with clean hands and good table manners you can dine with the Queen". Of course everyone who dined with Kit already knew they were dining with The Queen and we say as she would, "God Love Her".
