Catherine 'Cat' Chase was born June 10, 1930, to the late Frank Dixon, Sr. & Ethel Dixon (Downing) in Milledgeville, GA. She received her eternal wings on May 31, 2023, at the Life Care Center in Fort Wayne, IN. She was a loving, hardworking, and faithful woman.
Catherine moved from Milledgeville, GA to South Bend, IN to start a new life with unlimited opportunities. She graduated from Central High School, South Bend, IN. After graduating, she began her career in Hospitality. After marriage and giving birth to 4 children, with dedication and hard work, she purchased two homes and retired from St. Joseph Medical Center after 31 years of service as a surgical sterilization technician. She continued to work hard to provide for her family.
She was a long-time active member of the First A.M.E. Zion Church in South Bend, IN. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and reading the newspaper. Hosting family cookouts always made her happy, which included some of her favorite dishes (Cat's famous ribs, mac and cheese, greens, peach cobbler, and of course some hot water cornbread. lol)
She was a loyal advocate for her family and community. She made a lasting impression on anyone who crossed her path. She would give you the shirt off her back. If you were hungry, you had a plate at her table. If you needed advice, she'd give it to you straight no chaser. Those acts of kindness were all out of the unconditional love she had for everyone. God blessed us with this beautiful and amazing woman for 92 years. Today we celebrate her life because tomorrow she'll be spending her birthday with her heavenly father.
She is preceded in death by her siblings Frank Dixon, Jr. (Margaret), Willie Lee Dixon, and Eula Mae Bush (Lee Oscar), and her youngest son Simuel Chase, Jr. She is survived by her eldest daughter Cynthia McCormick (Raymond Thornton), Leel Williams, Jr., Lana Williams (Fred), 8 grandchildren- Dana McCormick, Tara McCormick, Marcus Thornton, Latasha Reindl, Mark Williams, Keleda Williams, Karlos Williams, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and many dear friends.
