Catherine "Cathy" Younghouse Peterson, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020, at her home in the Pinnacle Club at Cedar Creek Lake, in Henderson County, Texas. Cathy was born June 17, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, the only child of Harry Charles Younghouse and Dorthea Merz Younghouse. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ed, by her two wonderful daughters, Kristin Peterson (Miguel) (Shreveport, La.) , and Kendra Robinson (Brian) (Forney, Texas) and by grandson Joshua Ray Peterson (Brie) (Ft. Worth, Texas), grandson Mason Clarence Robinson (Sarah) (Stamford, Connecticut), grandaughter Taylor Anne Lindholm (Forney, Texas), grandson Ryan Edward Robinson (Forney, Texas), great grandaughter Melody Peterson (Fort Worth, Texas), and great grandson Anthony Robinson (Stamford, Connecticut). Cathy graduated from Belleville Township High School in Belleville, Illinois, then Belleville Junior College with an Associates Degree. While in College she worked at Illinois Power & Light. After graduation she moved with her husband to Dallas, Texas where she worked at Dallas Power & Light as an assistant to a vice president while her husband attended law school--often remarking that she earned her "PHT" (Putting Hubby Through). Cathy loved her family and looked forward to the many weekends and the numerous birthdays and holidays spent with the family at the house at Cedar Creek lake, where the girls and their families enjoyed the water sports and the beauty of God's outdoors. Cathy loved to travel and she and Ed traveled all over the country, the Carribean, and Europe, with a number of the grandchildren accompanying them on some of their travels. Cathy and the girls particularly liked their annual skiing trips to New Mexico and Colorado, where the whole family learned to ski, and their summer trips to New Mexico, Colorado, and South Padre Island, Texas. "Grams" as the grandchildren called her, and "GG" as the great grandchildren called her, was a caring and loving parent and grandparent and spent countless hours reading, entertaining, and driving the grandchildren to many events. Cathy was a long time active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dallas, Texas and later St. Peter Lutheran Church in Gun Barrel City, Texas, where she served on the Stewardship Committees of both Churches. She spent many years volunteering at the Family Place in Dallas, after the girls were grown, and was a founding member of the Pinnacle Women's Club in 1998 (serving as the Vice President for one year). She was loved dearly by her family and will be greatly missed. A memorial service celebrating Cathy's life will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 130 Luther Lane in Gun Barrel City, Texas, Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
