Caterina "Raffelina" D'Ambrogio, 83, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, carried safely to Heaven in the arms of Jesus. Born in Staletti, Italy, on April 16, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Bettina (Conestabile) Aiello. On February 16, 1958, she was united in marriage to Antonio D'Ambrogio in Staletti. He passed away on April 6, 2017.
Caterina was a communicant at St. John the Baptist Church. She worked at Joseph and Feiss for over 20 years.
Caterina was a talented seamstress, excellent cook and avid gardener. She loved to entertain family and friends-everyone was welcome in her home and no one left hungry or empty handed. She was a peacemaker with a great big, forgiving heart and always saw the good in everybody. She loved all of her family dearly and she was the most loving and wonderful mother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by five daughters, Emanuela "Mirella" Catalano (Giuseppe), Elisabetta "Ornella" (Gentile) D'Ambrogio, Lorella Catalano (Carmelo), Gabriella Flanagan (John) and Sabrina D'Ambrogio; three sisters, Rina Agosto (Antonio), Ida Puma (Joe) and Marie Jones; a brother, Salvatore Aiello; five grandchildren, Carlo Catalano (Marcellina), Mario Catalano (Kim), Franco Catalano, Brandon Catalano and John Flanagan; a great-grandson, Ezio; aunt, Antoinette Viscomi; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Serafina D'Ambrogio, Luigina D'Ambrogio and Michelina and Rosario D'Ambrogio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Alfredo D'Ambrogio; a son-in-law, Rosario Gentile; three brothers-in-law, Garry Jones, Saverio Grillone and Giuseppe Muzzi; and several aunts, uncles and grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 20th, at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, with the Rev. Paul Angelicchio officiating. Interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the church on Tuesday the 20th prior to the Mass from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
