Catalina, known as Cathy to her family and friends, a woman devoted to her family and God, and a long-time resident of Oxnard, California, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2021 at St. Johns Hospital at the age of 86.
Cathy was born on March 20, 1935 in Narvacan, Ilocos Surs, Philippines to Petronilo and Eugenia Supnet. Cathy attended Rosary College in Vigan, Ilocas Sur, near her hometown.
At the age of 22, Cathy migrated to the United States to pursue a life of opportunity and settled in Torrance, CA. Continuing her education at LA Harbor Jr. college and enrolling herself in the campus Multicultural Club, where Cathy met her lifelong partner and friend, Jimmy Ines. Soon after, Jimmy and Cathy were married on May 24, 1961 and began their life together in Wilmington, CA.
Jimmy joined the U.S. Navy and being a military family, Jimmy, Cathy and sons Jimmy Jr., Jeff and Jay Jay made their home wherever the U.S. Navy took them, including Subic Bay P.I., Fallon Nevada, Pearl Harbor Hawaii, and eventually settling and retiring in Oxnard, CA in 1977. Cathy was a proud military wife and enjoyed the life her husband and the Navy provided her and her children.
Throughout her working life, Cathy worked in an array of jobs. She worked in a bakery, tuna factory and finally retiring after 17 years from Power-One electronic assembly plant in Camarillo. Cathy mostly enjoyed being a homemaker to her family.
Cathy enjoyed watching the Los Angeles Lakers with Jimmy, tending to her array of fruit, vegetable and flower plants, cooking Filipino dishes for her family and friends, and baking her signature Madeline cookies!
Jimmy and Cathy spent much of their retired life traveling abroad either by land tour, but their favorite was taking Cruises. Greece, Jerusalem, Italy, China, Spain, Germany, Thailand and Mexico were some countries they visited with their good friends.
Cathy made numerous friends through church gatherings, being a member of the Ilocano Association of Ventura County and Zambales Association of Ventura County. She would always cook pancit or baduya to share at their functions.
Cathy was a devoted catholic and parishioner of Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and enjoyed the relationship and time spent sharing the love and word of God.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jimmy, son Jimmy Jr. (Stephanie), son, Jeffrey, son Jay Jay (Lariza). Grandchildren, James (Fernanda), Jeremy, Jordan and Jessie. Great grandchildren, Alexander, Journey and Story Lane. Cathy was reunited in Heaven with her eldest grandchild, Justin, the day the Lord called her to come home.
There will be a mass for Cathy at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic church on May 13th at 10 am, with graveside service to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard CA.
