LEXINGTON--Carolynne Lucille (Olson) Burrell died in Springfield MA on July 15, 2021 at the age of 99. She was born in Everett, MA in 1922, the daughter of Alice G. and Harry W. Olson. She graduated from Everett High School in 1940 and married Robert J. Burrell in Laguna Beach, CA in 1945 upon his release from military service. They eventually settled in Lexington, MA and had five children. After raising her children, Carolynne worked at the Country Flair in Lexington and later at Lord and Taylor in Burlington. For more than 40 years she was a familiar site in Lexington, assiduously taking daily long walks in Lexington and to as far away as Cambridge. She never wore a hat, even in winter and adhered unremittingly to a healthful diet without imposing it on others. In 2016, Carolynne moved to the Arbors Assisted Living Facility in Amherst MA, where she continued to walk. She was a reader, knitter and a good cook and had a detailed appreciation of architecture and a flair for design. She was also admired for her sense of style, her graciousness, resilience, indomitable spirit and sense of humor. She is survived by her children, Lisa King of Sacramento, CA, Christopher Burrell and his partner Kathleen Shugrue of Concord, MA, Mark Burrell and his wife Sharon of Stow, MA, Brian Burrell of Northampton, MA and Anita Smith of Vineyard Haven, MA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will be interred next to her husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. CZELUSNIAK FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE.
