Mrs. Carolyn Smart Perkins, age 84, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Wednesday morning, April 14, 2021, at her residence.
Mrs. Perkins was born in Cherokee County, AL on September 19, 1936, daughter of the late John Felton Smart and the late Janie Estelle Malone Smart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Elbert Perkins, by a daughter, Janice Duisen, by a grandson, Jamie Kennamer, and by 9 siblings. After having been employed with West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Lindale for a number of years, she retired from Valley Vend Services following several years of employment. She was member of Silver Creek Church of God where she served as a faithful Young Adults Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. She was devoted to her family and her church, always showing the love of God to everyone she met.
Survivors include her daughter, Gwen Brewer (Lane), Rome; her son, Joseph Kennamer (Becky), Rome; 6 grandchildren, Kimberly Hood (Ray), Stephanie Ayers (Kirk), Amanda Mayberry (Charlie), Jessica Williams (Cory), Joseph Kennamer, and Briana Chapman; several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Jerald Eaves and the Rev. Michael Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1pm until the service hour. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday at 2:30pm and include: Joseph Kennamer, Kirk Ayers, Ray Hood, Jordan Hood, Jonathan Hood, and Chris Farrer.
