Carolyn Eugenia Hardie McNeal of Milledgeville and formerly of Gordon, Georgia, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the Chaplinwood Health and Rehabilitation Center where she had lived for the past eight years. Born in Wilkinson County on October 8, 1936, Ms. McNeal was the second of five daughters born to Minnie Lee and Roy Lee Hardie of McIntyre. As a child, she enjoyed playing with her sisters, going to church and attending church events.
Ms. McNeal graduated from Wilkinson County High School where she had been a member of the Varsity Cheerleading squad. Soon after graduation she began working at Baldwin Credit and Finance Company where she was employed for many years. She was later employed by the American Red Cross, helping families and individuals in their time of greatest need. Ms. McNeal was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Milledgeville.
Ms. McNeal was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Patsy. She is survived by her son, Wendell D. McNeal (Karen McCoy) of Madison, Georgia; her sisters - Betsy H. Bennett of Macon, Sylvia H. Moore (Wayne Moore) of Milledgeville and Phyllis H. Lloyd (Harold Lloyd) of Hickory, North Carolina; her devoted long time care givers, Sherrie and Dennis Smith and their son Will; and many nieces and nephews.
Williams Funeral Home, 1670 N. Jefferson Street, NE, Milledgeville, GA 31061 is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the service following in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow immediately at Ivey Baptist Church Cemetery in Ivey, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Meals On Wheels of Baldwin County, P.O. Box 1425, Milledgeville, Georgia 31059.
