Carolyn Ruth Lyttle (n?e Buczinski), born March 5, 1937, in Woodward, Oklahoma, was called
home by the Almighty on January 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A survivor of the Dust Bowl and childhood poverty, Carolyn found richness in her nurtured
relationships with God, family, and friends. She was no stranger to resilience. She journeyed
through life with determination, growing her family along the way, moving across California, Nevada,
Illinois, Ohio, and Wyoming with her children?Dennis (dec.), John, Jerry, and Cindy?before settling
in Grand Junction in 1975.
She lived frugally and gave immensely, a testament to her selfless nature. Through her dedicated
childcare business, she nurtured and shaped young minds and hearts for over 50 years. Carolyn
was independent and driven?a gifted storyteller, seasoned cook, relentless reader, passionate
educator, devoted advocate, and steadfast supporter. She was a curious innovator, a gardener with
a green thumb, and a guardian to those in need.
She found joy in her church, traveling to Mexico, telling wholesome jokes, and surrounding herself
with family. Carolyn never remarried after the passing of her second husband, Bud Lyttle, in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her son Dennis, her parents, her brother Larry, and many beloved
family members and friends. She is survived by her children, John, Jerry (Chris), and Cindy (Tony);
her brother, Ronnie (Florence); and an extended family who cherished her deeply.
Those who knew her could fill an entire Sunday edition with kind words and still not find it adequate.
Carolyn had a rare gift?she saw the good in everyone, listened intently, engaged thoughtfully, and
loved fully. She set a high bar as a role model, leaving an indelible impact on countless people
worldwide.
A memorial service will be held by her family Friday, May 16th. It begins at 11am at Northeast
Christian church at 2751 Patterson Rd. All who shared in Carolyn's love are welcome to attend.
