Carolyn LeDuc was born on September 9, 1936, in the downriver section of Detroit, Michigan, to parents George E. LeDuc and Helen Sobay LeDuc. Carolyn attended grade school and high school in Lincoln Park, Michigan where she was a straight A student. The family moved to Norfolk, Virginia in the summer of 1953. Carolyn went on to attend Old Dominion University and graduated with a masters degree in physics and mathematics. Her first job out of college was working for NASA, where she remained until her retirement.
A participating member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hampton, VA, she volunteered on multiple committees for years, including after her retirement. She enjoyed swimming, cooking and belonged to a group called the Happy Wanderers who traveled around the area. She also enjoyed spending several weeks out of the year at her timeshare in the Outer Banks of NC.
She is survived by her older brother, George LeDuc; nephews, Michael, Mark, Lance and David LeDuc of Boise, Idaho; and niece Lori LeDuc of Beaverton, Oregon. The family would like to thank Xina Opie for her loving care of Carolyn over the past four years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church and In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local Meals on Wheels.
