Carolyn Irene Kisner, 97, was born in Smithville, Mississippi and residing in Olive Branch, Mississippi, passed away August 2021.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Byron Kisner; parents, Alvin Carlos and Winna Mae Cheek Reedy; brother, Dudley Harold Reedy; and sister, Doris Reedy. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Shirley Ann Shelton, a nephew, and many nieces, grand and great-grand nephews and nieces. Carolyn attended the University of Mississippi.
Carolyn was quoted in an article titled Kentucky Women - Boost on Success Ladder, in the 1965 edition of The Post & Times-Star, stating: "Skills and knowledge come first." She was extremely artistic and enjoyed many arts and crafts, especially painting. She enjoyed planting a large garden and had an orchard growing her favorite fruits and vegetables, which she shared with family and friends.
Carolyn will be remembered as a faithful Christian who loved the Lord. She loved children and her door was always open to family and friends to visit.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 27 from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 10:00 AM, at Memphis Funeral Home - Poplar Chapel, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be sent to New Beginnings Baptist Church, 6125 Pleasant Hill Road, Olive Branch, Mississippi 38654.
