Carolyn June Schwab, 90, of Napoleon passed away on August 31, 2022, at Vancrest of Holgate. She was born in Defiance, Ohio on June 24, 1932, to Vernon and Florence (Weippert) Hendricks. Carolyn married Clarence Schwab on February 20, 1954, at St. John Catholic Church, in Defiance.
Carolyn was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where she helped prepare funeral luncheons for many years and volunteered at the Blood Drives, Christmas House, Turtle Fest, and many other fundraisers. In her younger years, she was involved with the Child Conservation League, a member of a women's bowling league and several card clubs. Carolyn was known for her baking skills, especially her cookies and pies. She would spend hours decorating cookies, only to have the children devour them in minutes. Carolyn was a wonderful and loving sister, wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities and doting on her great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family.
Carolyn in survived by her husband of 68 years, Clarence; children, Deb (Jim) Hoops, Dave (Nanette) Schwab, and Doug (Terri) Schwab; grandchildren, Erica (Ross) Borstelman, Matt (Jill) Schwab, Abbey (Jeff) Haudenshild, Andrew (Megan) Schwab, Danielle (Dan) Campbell, Eric (Brittany) Schwab, and Emily (Henry Weisgerber) Schwab; and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia (Jerry) Andrews.
Friends and family will be received at St. Augustine Ministry Center, 210 Clinton Street, Napoleon, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Due to her great love of animals, it was Carolyn's wish for memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, to be made to the Henry County Humane Society.
