Carolyn Brown Green passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022, with her beloved and adoring family by her side. She was born on May 5, 1934 to Dexter Ernest Brown and Maude McClary Brown in Williamsburg County, SC.
After raising her family in Andrews, SC, Carolyn relocated to Cherry Grove and later to Garden City, where she enjoyed the ever-changing tides in Murrells Inlet and tending her lovely garden featuring hydrangeas, roses, and palm trees throughout the seasons. Always attuned to the sea, Carolyn was known for creating and living in gracious and beautiful homes, dressing to the nines, and making memories with her family over delicious meals and everyone's favorite pound cake, often enjoyed at her tables and on her porches.
Although she worked in various family businesses, she took the most pride in her children: RA (Paula) Green III of Murrells Inlet, Elizabeth Moseley of Garden City and Atlanta, Ga., Lisa (Jimmy) Anderson of Florence, and Jane (Giles) Roberts of Wilmington, NC. She loved and enjoyed her In-law children as much as her own, sharing a special friendship with Paula.
The purest joy of her life came with her eleven grandchildren: Royce (Melanie) Green IV, Neil (Jennifer) Anderson, Mikkel Green, Ashley (Lindsey) Anderson, Whitney R. (Mark) Hill, Beth Anderson, Sarah Green, Grayson (Taylor) Roberts, Ryan (Terri) Anderson, Andrew (Lauren) Moseley, and Matthew Moseley. She has ten "fat and happy" great-grandchildren, with more on the way. She was especially fond of babies, and they of her.
Born the second daughter in a family of six children, Carolyn was blessed with a large and loving extended family. Surviving her are three brothers: Wendell (Erma Jean) Brown of Kingstree, Steve Brown of Edisto Island, and Don (Joan) Brown of Mount Pleasant, along with her sisters-in-law, Donna Riffe Brown of Mount Pleasant, and Joan G. (Loyd) Morris of Andrews. She loved and was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Betty Jean B. Mikkelson and brother Jerry Brown, as well as brother-in-law Billy Mikkelson, sister-in-law Margie M. Brown and son-in-law Riley "Trey" Moseley. Her ex-husband Royce A. Green Jr. passed away in 2015.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church (4182 US-17 BUS, Murrells Inlet, SC) with burial in the church graveyard. The Reverend Will Malambri will officiate. Her family will welcome friends and extended family from 1-2 PM in Belin's Family Life Center. We are grateful that she will be laid to rest near her beloved Inlet, under the moss-draped trees of her native Lowcountry. She thought this area among the most beautiful in all the world.
For anyone unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed on Belin UMC Murrells Inlet YouTube channel. In consideration of the continuing Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, masks will be available and encouraged inside the church for the comfort of everyone attending. Arrangements by Burroughs Funeral Home of Murrells Inlet.
