Carolyn (Doolittle) Hetherwick Dickson, age 93, passed away peacefully June 10, 2022, in Vero Beach, Florida. She was born in San Mateo, California, to Maybelle and George W. Doolittle, and grew up in suburban Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Rocky River High School, Bradford Junior College and Wellesley College in Massachusetts.
Carolyn married Frederic Boyce Hetherwick in 1950 and they were married for38 years. She was an active participant on the boards of numerous community service organizations including
the Jackson Junior Welfare League, Jackson Symphony Orchestra Association, United Way Community Services and the Cancer Society. She was also a longtime member of the Jackson Country Club, Friday Club, and the Ella Sharp Museum.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederic B. Hetherwick as well as second husband, Arthur W. Dickson whom she married in 1989. They were married 16 years and lived in Annisquam (Gloucester) Massachusetts, where they belonged to the Annisquam Yacht Club.
Her remaining years were spent in Vero Beach Florida where she played bridge with her longtime friends Diane and Thom Crosby. Carolyn received excellent care from Fresenius Dialysis, Renaissance Senior Living and VNA Hospice of Vero Beach.
She is survived by children Frederic M. Hetherwick (Liz) and Julie Hetherwick; grandson Matthew H. Hetherwick (Casey), great grandson Matthew Patrick Hetherwick, Webb Dickson (Bridgit), Nathaniel Grove (Kim), Valerie Wilkins and several other great grandchildren. Donations may be made to HALO No-Kill Animal Shelter in Vero Beach Florida, the Cascades Humane Society, or the Ella Sharp Museum in Jackson, Michigan.
