Caroline Victoria (Blommer) Erickson, age 77, of Burnsville, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 6, 2021 ending her ten year, four month Alzheimer's Disease journey peacefully at home with her husband and daughter at her side.
Caroline was born April 27, 1944 to the late Louis P. and Victoria (Dehler) Blommer of Waite Park, MN. She graduated from Cathedral High School, St. Cloud, in 1962 and St. Cloud Beauty College in 1964 and relocated to Minneapolis several years later to be employed as manager of the 'Salon of the Golden Touch.' She moved to Richfield in October of 1971 and within several weeks met her husband-to-be, Charles G. (Chuck) Erickson. It was love at first sight for both. They were married June 3, 1972. They were blessed with daughter Andrea Marit on Christmas Day 1974 and son Charles Louis (Charlie) on September 6, 1977. The family moved to Burnsville in August 1978.
The children could not have had a better mother. Every birthday they each had an elaborately decorated cake and a big party with friends. Chuck was employed by a number of book publishers and was frequently gone on business trips. Caroline took the children on day outings, read to them at bedtime, taught them to ride bikes and taught them their prayers and how to say the Rosary. She also took Charlie to baseball and basketball practices and Andrea to dance and gymnastic practices and both to swimming classes. Caroline was also an excellent gourmet cook and a talented calligrapher. She was a volunteer at the Minneapolis Institute of Art at one time, a reading mom at the children's grade school where she also started a Great Books program. She faithfully attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage with the children where she also taught Sunday School, and CCD classes for many years. Caroline and Andrea also shared a weekly hour of Eucharistic Adoration at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for many years. She was very involved in local Republican politics for many years before her illness.
Caroline is survived by her husband Chuck; daughter Andrea Erickson; son Charles L. Erickson and grandson Arlo Charles Erickson, both of Columbus, OH; her siblings Shirley (Francis) Muntifering of St, Augusta, MN; Delores Thielen and Teresa Erkens, both of St. Cloud, MN; Aloys (Elaine) Blommer of St. Cloud, MN; James Blommer, Hutchinson, MN; Donald (Mary) Blommer of Anchorage, AK; sister-in-law Judith Erickson (Steve) Bach of Shorewood, WI; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.
